Dani & Alex's Wedding at Drysdale's Tree Farm
Dani found me on Facebook and reached out to me, back in October, 2018. She said she chose me because of my creative photos and my ability with both natural and artificial light. (Tip when choosing your wedding photographer: Unless your wedding is taking place entirely outside and only during the day, make sure you see examples of their work in low-lighting situations - both at night and indoors!) Once we got to talking about our fur babies - we knew we were right for each other! When she and Alex showed up to their engagement session the next month with both dogs AND Christmas sweaters, I knew we were a match made in heaven!
Dani and Alex’s gorgeous wedding at Drysdale’s Tree Farm took place almost a year later, on October 19th, 2019. I started the day at 12pm with the boys in Grand Valley - where they taught me how to skeet shoot in between photos! I almost hit one!
Around 12:45pm it was time to make my way to Barrie, ON to meet the girls at the beautiful Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. I arrived around 1:30pm, just in time to photograph Dani’s amazing wedding dress from David’s Bridal, the adorable bridesmaids’ gifts, and the bride’s elegant jewelry and shoes (which make an appearance later in one of my favourite photos of the day).
After documenting the important details, we had some fun getting shots of the bride and her bridesmaids in their wine-coloured robes (with a guest appearance from a bottle of champagne!).
Just before Dani got into her wedding dress, she read a letter from her groom as we stalked her through the window.
Next, it was time for the bride to put on her wedding dress! Such an exhilarating moment for everyone. And she had plenty of assistance, too. <3
Once her dress was all done up and cheers were made with her girls, it was time for the final touches: the bride’s shoes and jewelry. (The next photo is one of my favourites that I referenced earlier!).
Finally it was off to the wedding venue: Drysdale’s Tree Farm in Egbert, Ontario.
First, Dani got some must-have photos with her father. <3
Next, I went into the reception space to get some detail shots!
Once the guests had all arrived at the ceremony site in the woods, the girls made their way over.
Dani and Alex’s ceremony began at 3:30pm. Alex was all smiles as his bride walked down the aisle.
Once their moving ceremony was complete, it was time for photos! I always have my couples send me a list of all of the people they want photos with so that they don’t have to worry about missing anything on the day. It becomes my responsibility so they can relax and enjoy the experience!
My favourite part of the family photos was when Alex and his sister tried to give Dani a wet willy, but she dodged it like a champ!
After some lovely family photos, it was time to capture the wedding party in all their glory! As always, I start with everyone together.
Dani wanted some photos of just her and the groomsmen - not many do this, but it’s such a fun idea!
Then we split up and took photos of just the bridesmaids and just the groomsmen.
Once we were finished, we let the wedding party join the cocktail hour and explored Drysdale’s Tree Farm for some bride and groom photos!
6pm arrived and it was time for the reception to begin with the bride and groom’s romantic first dance to the song “Forever’s Not Long Enough” by John Newman, followed by the cake cutting!
After dinner and speeches, it was time for the father/daughter and mother/son dances.
And finally… PARTY TIME!
Before it was time for me to go, we had to get outside for some of my signature night shots! I grabbed some sparklers from my trunk, and away we went!
I want to thank Dani and Alex from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to be their wedding photographer! And a big shout out to my fellow vendors for the day:
